Professional registered agent Service

ZenBusiness Costs $100 More Every Year. Vermont Charges $35 to Leave.

Vermont registered agent representation, billed at $99 per year. Includes the office address on your filings, same-day scanning of legal mail, and reminders for state deadlines.

Whose page this is. Vermont Registered Agent.co wrote it. We sell Vermont registered agent service for $99 a year, ZenBusiness sells the same appointment for more, and we get paid when somebody switches. The ZenBusiness prices below are ZenBusiness's own, read off their published pages in July 2026 and not touched since.

Their Dashboard Beats Ours

Start with what is true. Nobody in this category ships better software than ZenBusiness. One workspace holding filings, documents, and reminders. An onboarding flow a first-time owner can finish without help. None of that is marketing gloss, and if a compliance dashboard is the thing you are shopping for, go buy theirs.

We built something else. A Vermont address, a scanner, and one price.

Two Numbers, and Only One of Them Repeats

Standalone registered agent service at ZenBusiness: $99 in the first year, plus whatever Vermont collects, then $199 every year after. Published openly. Nothing concealed.

The catch is not the pricing. It is the reading. Year one is a promotion; year two is the product. Vermont keeps asking for an agent every year your company stays on the register, which is to say indefinitely, so the second number is the one describing your actual life.

Year ZenBusiness Vermont Registered Agent.co
1 $99 + state fees $99
2 $199 $99
5 $199 $99
Total, five years $895 $495

The gap is exactly $100 per renewal. Here is the useful part: Vermont prices the exit at $35.

Which means the filing pays for itself in roughly four months of the difference, and everything after that is money you keep. Not a rounding error. Four hundred dollars over five years, a thousand over ten, for the same statutory job done at the same address standard.

What the $99 buys:

  • A Vermont street address on the public agent line, in place of yours
  • Anything served on us scanned before the day ends, emailed to you as it posts
  • Your whole document history in the portal, permanently
  • A prompt before your Vermont report window opens
  • One price, one product, no tiers to decline at checkout

Not the lowest, and we are not going to say otherwise. BetterLegal's $90 beats ours by nine dollars. What is true is that our $99 sits in the low band of published Vermont rates, and that same-day handling is included in it rather than sold on the side.

The Rest of Your Vermont Bill

Worth knowing what else the year costs, because the agent fee never arrives alone.

Forming the company runs $155. The annual report is $45, and it falls due within three months of your fiscal year end, so a December 31 close puts the window in the first quarter. Older guides still print $35 for that report. That was the fee before Vermont raised it, and it will not cover the filing now.

Add it up on the ZenBusiness renewal and the agent line is more than four times the state's yearly charge for keeping your company alive. On ours it is a little over twice. Neither of those is dramatic on its own. Both are worth seeing before you pick.

Switching From ZenBusiness in Vermont: The Short Version

One filing. Vermont calls it a Statement of Change, the fee is $35, and you send it through the state's online filing system to the Business Services Division. There is no form number to hunt down because there is no paper form. Our change of agent page has the steps, and we hand you the exact entries when you sign up.

Do it in this order. Sign up here. File the change. Check Vermont's entity lookup until the agent line reads our name. Then, and only then, turn off the ZenBusiness renewal. Vermont expects that seat filled from your company's first day to its last, and cancelling early does not make the filing go through any faster. It just risks a stretch where nobody is holding it.

ZenBusiness does not sign anything and cannot slow any of it down.
